what we believe

  • BIBLE

    We believe the Holy Scriptures (the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) are inspired by God and without error in their original writings. They are the church’s only infallible and final authority for what we believe and how we live.

  • GOD

    We believe in the one true God who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • JESUS

    We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He became fully human while remaining fully God. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died on a cross for our sins, and rose from the dead.

  • HOLY SPIRIT

    We believe the Holy Spirit is God, equal to the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit dwells in and empowers all who believe in Jesus.

  • PEOPLE

    We believe God created humans in the image of God, giving each individual person dignity, value, and worth. However, all people have sinned, are consequently separated from God, and need salvation.

  • SALVATION

    We believe salvation is God’s free gift, given by grace alone and received through faith alone in Jesus Christ. It cannot be earned through human effort. Those who trust in Christ turn from sin and confess Jesus as Lord. They are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life.

  • CHURCH

    We believe the church is the people of God who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus as their Lord. The church exists to glorify God by reaching those far from God and encouraging one another as followers of Jesus.

  • BAPTISM + COMMUNION

    We believe Jesus taught his church to remember his death for our sins by taking Communion—eating bread and drinking wine or grape juice. We believe that, as part of making disciples, Jesus taught his church to baptize by immersion those who profess personal faith in Jesus as their Lord, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • ETERNITY

    We believe Jesus will return at the end of time to raise the dead, judge the world, and make all things new. Those who did not trust in Christ as Lord will be separated from God for eternity, while those who trust in Christ will live forever with God.

We are always making space for another person to be welcomed, known, and invited into life with Jesus. There is room at the table, and there is room for you.

Jesus doesn’t just meet us at the destination; he walks with us every step of the way. Following him is a lifelong journey of learning to enjoy his presence along the way.

We are formed into the way of Jesus together. We need people beside us who help us follow Jesus, practice his way, and become who he is making us to be.

Jesus invites us to join him in his work. We bring what we have, trust his power, and take the next step he puts in front of us.

SETH PHILIP

After 13 years of ministry in Japan, Megan and I returned to the United States with a growing sense that God was leading us to start a church. We made a list of the largest, least-churched cities in the country. As we prayed and learned more, Las Vegas kept rising to the top. When we reached out to The Crossing, we learned that God had also placed a dream in the hearts of their leaders to launch a new church—continuing a Las Vegas legacy of churches starting churches, from Central Christian Church to Canyon Ridge, from Canyon Ridge to The Crossing, and now from The Crossing to Waypoint. It didn’t take long for us to sense that God was in this.

We love the entire Las Vegas Valley, but we were especially drawn to the northwest—a beautiful, rapidly growing part of the city with a clear need for more churches. As we stepped out in faith, we began meeting others who shared the dream of creating a church where anyone can come as they are, belong before they believe, find their people, and take their next step with Jesus. Waypoint is a brand-new church launching in September 2026. We’re humbled and grateful for what God is doing!

  • Waypoint is a Christian church centered on Jesus and rooted in the Bible. You don’t have to agree with everything we believe to attend, belong, or ask honest questions.

  • Waypoint is a non-denominational Christian church that operates independently while maintaining meaningful relationships, partnership, and accountability. We were planted in close partnership with The Crossing, Strategic Launch Network, Nexus and other partners.

  • We believe the church is a community of people, not a building. While we look toward a permanent home in the future, we’re grateful to rent space at Escobedo Middle School--the school has been an incredible partner. We are grateful to have a location to gather in the heart of northwest Las Vegas and opportunities to support its students, families, and staff while contributing to the good of our community.

  • A great place to begin is by participating on Sundays. From there, you can build deeper relationships by growing in a Group or serving alongside others on a Team. Connect with us and we’ll help you find your next step.

  • Connect with us to explore the different ways you can serve, then complete the interest form. One of our Team leaders will contact you and help you find a place where you can build relationships and make a difference.

  • Not necessarily. At Waypoint, you can belong before you believe, and many of our Teams are open to anyone who wants to contribute and serve alongside others. Some positions involving spiritual leadership and teaching have additional requirements, but we’d love to help you find a Team that fits.

  • Not at all. Whether you’ve followed Jesus for years, are returning to church, or aren’t sure what you believe, you’re welcome here. Waypoint is a place where you can belong, ask honest questions, and explore faith without pressure.

  • No. We won’t ask you to stand, introduce yourself, or identify yourself publicly. Our team will be available to welcome you and answer questions, but you’re free to participate at your own pace.

  • No. You’re welcome to participate in whatever ways feel comfortable. If you’re new we don’t want you to feel any pressure at all. As a church, we give so we can create space for you to simply receive, explore, and be present. We genuinely care about you, and you are our valued guest. Giving is an act of worship for those who consider Waypoint their church, so guests should never feel obligated to give. When we celebrate Communion, we’ll explain what it means and invite all followers of Jesus--guests included--to participate as they feel led.

  • Whatever you normally wear. Waypoint is casual, so come in whatever makes you feel comfortable.

  • Waypoint Kids provides fun, safe, age-appropriate environments for children from birth through fifth grade during both Sunday services. Middle and high school students are welcome in the main service and we have specific opportunities for students which you can learn more about HERE.

  • Absolutely! Children are always welcome to sit with you. We also offer Waypoint Kids environments designed especially for children from birth through fifth grade.

  • Yes. You can watch recent Waypoint messages on our Youtube page. Watching online can be a helpful first step, and we’d love to meet you in person whenever you’re ready.
